About Us

building worlds that breathe in the dark

Six Ton Axe Games is an independent game studio based in Austin, Texas, creating narrative-driven and atmospheric horror games. Our fully remote team brings together experienced developers, artists, and designers focused on building immersive, story-rich experiences.

Our team draws talent from around the world, blending AAA experience from Meta, Electronic Arts, Santa Monica Studio, THQ, and beyond with the creative autonomy of independent storytelling.

The Differentiator

worlds built with intention

As an indie horror game studio, we prioritize emotional storytelling, intentional design, and player immersion.

fear is personal

Unsettling experiences built with technical precision.

handcrafted narratives

Details crafted by a team with care about the worlds they’re building.

built around players

Choices and pace matters. Experiences shaped with trust in the player.

We build deliberately. We build differently.

A tall, textured, light-brown pillar or wall section with a slightly uneven, rustic surface.

Our Approach

personal and indie

We design from the inside out. Atmosphere isn’t layered on at the end, it shapes every system, mechanic, and environment from the start.

Tension should build naturally, through sound design, spatial storytelling — not in excess or repetition.

As an indie horror studio, we focus on quality over scale. Approaching any project to be built deliberately, with intention behind every detail.

A decorative horizontal divider consisting of a thin line punctuated by three symmetrical, intricate, tan-colored emblems.
Black and white abstract texture featuring a ragged, brush-like border edge.

Our Current Project

A Horror lite RPG experience

This narrative driven atmospheric horror experience is set within an isolated compound hiding unnatural secrets. Designed around tension and restraint, the game prioritizes immersion over spectacle.

A dark, moody hallway with a hanging, skeletal swing decorated with autumn leaves and glowing geometric shapes.
A close-up, vertical shot of a brown, weathered wooden surface with visible grain and subtle texturing.

Every Step Feels Earned

What awaits you

Your journey is defined as much by the people you meet as the paths you take. Every choice —who to trust, where to go, what to pursue —shapes the story unfolding around you.

The horror is not loud. It is persistent.

A thin, vertical, light brown wooden pole centered against a plain white background.

A slow-burning experience where hope is scarce, connection means survival, and every moment feels intentional.

A dark, dimly lit room with a makeshift bed, hanging fabrics, and a red symbol painted on a textured wall.
A horizontal brushstroke of black paint on a white background.

Enter If You Dare

How far will you go for family?

The denizens within do not wander aimlessly. They listen. They adapt. They respond to your presence. Survival demands patience, awareness, and restraint. Uncover story and strategies through exploration, observation, and cooperation.

Atmospheric First. Emotionally Anchored. Character Focused.

our team

A vertical, stylized brown symbol resembling two interlocking hooks next to a horizontal, decorative brown line.

Working remotely but grounded in Austin, we move carefully and collaboratively. Because narrative isn’t added at the end - it’s built from the start. Our team balances technical precision with a healthy fear of dark unsettling spaces.
